• Currently, you can bring an attorney to an interview conducted by the Special Commissioner of Investigations (SCI), but you cannot bring an attorney to an interview with the DOE’s Office of Special Investigations (OSI), or Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO). All three bodies can substantiate allegations against you that can lead to disciplinary actions including termination. In-house investigations can also lead to disciplinary actions including termination. All meetings other than SCI allow only a UFT union rep to attend.
  • Children under 18 can be interviewed by investigators and administration without their parents’ knowledge or consent.
